Will Malloff , noted author of "Chainsaw Lumbermaking" (Taunton Press 1982), the book that shows  how to make the Alaska chainsaw mill into a significantly more useful tool.  Reader response showed Malloff that there was much need for his advanced technology.  He then realized that his life mission was to strive for excellence at developing and teaching useful life skills.  So began the work of what he calls E.A.R.T.H. MISSION ONE (Earth Appropriate Research for Tree Harvesting).
Malloff has been researching and developing  new added value tools and wood technology for more than forty years.  He has developed a series of ultralight micro chainsaw mills that are capable of  harvesting trees of any diameter at the stump.  These mills are designed to harvest high added value specialty lumber with minimal ecological impact.  Through continued research of fine woodworking technology Malloff has created many unique examples of value added hand sculpted art furniture. Currently Malloff is developing a 2 man hand operated sawmill that will also be made public for all to share.
